About this exercise

A back-building compound exercise performed on a T-bar row machine using a supinated (underhand) grip. The reverse grip shifts more emphasis onto the lower lats and biceps compared to a standard overhand row, making it effective for adding thickness and width to the back.

How to Perform

  • Set up at the T-bar row machine and load appropriate plates
  • Straddle the bar and grip the handles with a supinated (palms-up) underhand grip
  • Hinge at the hips to achieve a roughly 45-degree torso angle, keeping your back flat
  • Retract your shoulder blades and row the weight toward your lower chest or stomach
  • Squeeze the lats and rhomboids at the top of the movement
  • Lower the weight in a controlled manner back to the starting position
  • Maintain a neutral spine throughout the entire set
