About this exercise

A plate-loaded lever machine lat pulldown performed with a reverse (supinated) grip on the wide handle. The underhand grip increases biceps recruitment and shifts lat emphasis toward the lower fibers, making it a strong complement to standard overhand pulldowns.

How to Perform

  • Load the appropriate weight plates onto the machine
  • Sit facing the machine and secure your chest against the support pad
  • Reach up and grasp the wide handles with a reverse (underhand/supinated) grip
  • Start with arms fully extended overhead and lats stretched
  • Pull the handles down toward your chest, driving your elbows down and back
  • Squeeze your lats and biceps at the bottom of the pull
  • Slowly extend your arms back overhead to the starting position
