Lever Reverse Grip High Row (Plate Loaded)

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Lever Reverse Grip High Row (Plate Loaded).

MediumTrapeziusMiddle back

About this exercise

The lever reverse grip high row uses a plate-loaded lever machine with a supinated (underhand) grip to pull from a high angle, effectively targeting the upper lats and traps while also engaging the biceps. The reversed grip shifts more emphasis onto the lower portion of the lats and allows a stronger peak contraction at the top.

How to Perform

  • Load the lever machine with the appropriate weight plates
  • Stand facing the machine and grasp the handles with a supinated (underhand/reverse) grip, shoulder-width apart
  • Lean forward slightly from the hips and keep your chest up and back flat
  • Pull the handles toward your upper chest by driving your elbows down and back
  • Squeeze your shoulder blades together at the top of the movement
  • Slowly return the handles to the starting position under control
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
