Lever Preacher Curl (Turned Torso)

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Lever Preacher Curl (Turned Torso).

MediumBiceps

About this exercise

A preacher curl variation performed on a lever machine with the torso rotated to one side, which alters the line of pull and shifts the peak contraction point of the biceps. The turned-torso technique can help address strength imbalances and provides a unique stimulus compared to a standard preacher curl.

How to Perform

  • Sit at the preacher curl machine and adjust the seat height so your upper arms rest flat on the angled pad
  • Rotate your torso slightly to one side to shift the angle of engagement on the biceps
  • Grip the handles with an underhand grip and let your arms fully extend at the bottom
  • Curl the weight upward in a controlled arc until your forearms are nearly vertical and you feel a peak contraction
  • Lower the weight slowly back to the fully extended starting position
