Lever Preacher Curl (Plate-Loaded)

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Lever Preacher Curl (Plate-Loaded).

MediumBiceps

About this exercise

The lever preacher curl uses a plate-loaded machine with a padded support that locks the upper arms in place, eliminating shoulder recruitment and maximizing biceps isolation. The fixed lever path ensures consistent tension on the biceps throughout the full range of motion. It is particularly effective for targeting the lower and outer portions of the biceps.

How to Perform

  • Load the weight plates and adjust the seat so your upper arms rest flat on the preacher pad with a slight stretch at the bottom
  • Grip the handles with a supinated (palms-up) grip at full arm extension
  • Curl the handles upward by flexing your elbows, keeping your upper arms pressed firmly against the pad
  • Squeeze the biceps at the top of the movement
  • Slowly lower the handles back to full extension under control
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
