Lever Preacher Curl

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Lever Preacher Curl.

EasyBiceps

About this exercise

The lever preacher curl is a machine-based bicep curl performed with the upper arms braced against an angled preacher pad. The fixed pad eliminates body English and forces strict bicep isolation throughout the full range of motion, making it an effective exercise for building bicep peak and strength.

How to Perform

  • Adjust the seat height so the top of the preacher pad fits snugly under your armpits
  • Grip the machine handles with both hands, palms facing upward, and rest your upper arms fully on the pad
  • Start from a fully extended arm position at the bottom
  • Curl the weight upward toward your shoulders, contracting the biceps
  • Squeeze at the top of the movement for a brief hold
  • Slowly lower back to full extension, resisting the weight on the way down
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
