About this exercise

The lever one arm shoulder press is a unilateral plate-loaded machine exercise that develops the anterior deltoid and shoulder musculature one side at a time. Pressing with one arm challenges core stability and helps correct strength imbalances between sides.

How to Perform

  • Load weight plates onto one side of the machine and stand or sit at the press station
  • Grip the single handle with one hand at shoulder height, palm facing forward
  • Brace your core and maintain a stable, upright posture throughout the movement
  • Press the handle overhead until your arm is fully extended, keeping the movement controlled
  • Avoid tilting your torso to compensate for the unilateral load
  • Slowly lower the weight back to shoulder height under control
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching to the other arm
