About this exercise

A unilateral plate-loaded machine exercise that targets the latissimus dorsi through a high-angle pulling motion. Performed on a lateral lever machine, the high row position emphasizes the lower lat fibers and allows independent training of each side for balanced back development.

How to Perform

  • Load the machine with appropriate plates and sit facing the pad
  • Grasp the handle with one hand, arm extended with the handle positioned high
  • Stabilize your torso and brace your core
  • Pull the handle down and toward your torso in a rowing arc, driving your elbow back and down
  • Squeeze the lat at the peak contraction
  • Slowly return the handle to the fully extended starting position under control
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching arms
