About this exercise

The lever lateral raise with chest support is a machine exercise that isolates the lateral deltoid by removing trunk sway. Leaning against the chest pad stabilises the torso, allowing strict lateral arm abduction without using momentum from the lower body.

How to Perform

  • Adjust the machine pad to chest height and stand facing the support with feet shoulder-width apart
  • Lean your chest lightly against the pad and grasp the lever handles at your sides
  • With elbows slightly bent, raise both arms out to the sides until they reach shoulder level
  • Pause briefly at the top of the movement, then slowly lower the arms back to the starting position
  • Keep your torso stationary against the pad and avoid shrugging the shoulders throughout each repetition
