About this exercise

The lever kneeling leg curl is a plate-loaded machine exercise that isolates the hamstrings through a kneeling position. Kneeling places the hip in a neutral to extended position, which lengthens the hamstrings and increases the challenge throughout the full range of motion compared to the lying or seated variants.

How to Perform

  • Set the knee pad and ankle roller to fit your leg length
  • Kneel on the machine with your knees on the pad and the ankle roller resting behind your Achilles tendon
  • Hold the support handles and keep your hips slightly forward
  • Curl your heels toward your glutes, contracting the hamstrings
  • Pause at the top with maximum contraction
  • Lower the weight slowly back to the starting position with control
