About this exercise

The lever horizontal one leg press is a unilateral machine exercise that targets the quadriceps while also engaging the glutes and hamstrings. Pressing with one leg at a time corrects strength imbalances between limbs and increases the stabilization demand on the working leg.

How to Perform

  • Sit in the horizontal leg press machine and adjust the seat so your working knee is at approximately 90 degrees
  • Place one foot flat in the center of the platform at a comfortable height
  • Release the safety handles and lower the platform in a controlled manner until your knee approaches your chest
  • Press through your heel to extend your leg and push the platform back to the starting position
