MediumQuadriceps

About this exercise

The lever horizontal leg press is a machine-based compound exercise that targets the quadriceps while also engaging the glutes, hamstrings, and calves. Sitting in a reclined seat, you push a weighted platform horizontally away from your body, making it a joint-friendly alternative to the squat.

How to Perform

  • Adjust the seat so your knees form approximately a 90-degree angle when your feet are on the platform
  • Place your feet shoulder-width apart on the footplate, toes slightly turned out
  • Release the safety handles and grip the side handles firmly
  • Inhale, then press the platform away by extending your knees and hips until your legs are nearly straight
  • Pause briefly at the top, avoiding locking out the knees
  • Slowly lower the platform back toward your body under control until your knees reach about 90 degrees
  • Complete all reps and re-engage the safety handles before unloading
