About this exercise

The lever decline single arm chest press is a machine exercise targeting the lower portion of the pectoralis major unilaterally. The decline angle redirects the pressing force downward, placing the greatest stress on the sternal and costal fibres of the chest, while single-arm training eliminates compensation between sides.

How to Perform

  • Adjust the decline machine seat and angle so the handle starts at lower chest height when you are seated
  • Sit securely with your back against the pad and grip the handle with one hand
  • Press the handle forward and slightly downward until your arm is fully extended
  • Squeeze your lower chest muscles at the end range and hold briefly
  • Return the handle slowly to the starting position, maintaining tension on the chest throughout
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching to the other arm
