About this exercise

The Lever Bent-Over Row with V-Bar is a plate-loaded machine exercise that mimics a bent-over barbell row using a fixed arc of motion. The V-bar attachment brings your hands into a neutral (palms-facing) grip, which reduces shoulder strain and allows a strong contraction of the lats and mid-back.

How to Perform

  • Load the desired weight onto the lever machine and attach a V-bar handle
  • Stand or straddle the machine and hinge at the hips to approximately 45 degrees, maintaining a neutral spine
  • Grip the V-bar with both hands, palms facing each other, and let your arms hang fully extended
  • Pull the V-bar toward your lower chest or upper abdomen by driving your elbows back and squeezing your shoulder blades together
  • Hold the contracted position briefly at the top
  • Slowly lower the bar back to full arm extension, feeling a stretch across your lats
  • Keep your torso angle consistent throughout all reps
