About this exercise

A machine-based bent-over row performed with a neutral (hammer) grip and a chest support pad that stabilizes the torso. The chest pad eliminates lower back strain, allowing full focus on lat and mid-back development through a strong, controlled pulling motion.

How to Perform

  • Adjust the chest pad height so your chest rests comfortably against it while bent over
  • Grasp the neutral-grip handles with both hands and let your arms hang fully extended
  • Brace your core and retract your shoulder blades slightly before pulling
  • Pull the handles toward your lower chest or abdomen, driving your elbows straight back
  • Squeeze your lats and mid-back at the top of the pull
  • Lower the weight slowly and with control back to the starting position
  • Keep your chest in contact with the pad throughout the entire set
