MediumAbs

About this exercise

A machine-supported abdominal leg raise with a resistance band looped around the legs to add extra resistance through the movement, increasing the demand on the lower abs. The band's progressive tension challenges the abdominals more at the top of the range where the muscle is shortest.

How to Perform

  • Loop a resistance band around your feet or ankles before setting up on the lever machine
  • Brace yourself on the apparatus with your back against the pad and forearms on the supports
  • Allow your legs to hang freely and feel the band's tension pulling them down
  • Brace your core and raise both legs toward your chest against the band resistance
  • Pause at the top to maximise contraction in the lower abdominals
  • Lower your legs slowly back to the starting position, controlling the band's pull throughout
  • Avoid using momentum — keep every rep deliberate and muscle-driven
