About this exercise

A machine-based triceps extension using a lever or plate-loaded apparatus to isolate and strengthen all three heads of the triceps. The machine provides a stable, guided path that allows focused loading with minimal shoulder involvement.

How to Perform

  • Adjust the machine seat and arm pad so that your upper arms are supported and elbows align with the machine's pivot point
  • Grip the handles with an overhand or neutral grip, depending on the machine design
  • Begin with elbows bent and the handles near your head or upper chest
  • Extend your arms downward or forward in a controlled motion until they are nearly straight
  • Pause briefly at full extension to contract the triceps
  • Return the handles slowly to the starting position without letting the weight slam down
