Lever Alternate Biceps Curl

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Lever Alternate Biceps Curl.

MediumBiceps

About this exercise

A machine-based alternating biceps curl that trains one arm at a time using a lever or plate-loaded curl machine. The alternating pattern allows each arm to recover briefly while maintaining continuous training stimulus, promoting balanced biceps development.

How to Perform

  • Sit at the lever curl machine and adjust the seat so your upper arms rest flat on the pad
  • Grip both handles with a supinated (palms-up) grip
  • Curl one arm upward toward your shoulder in a smooth, controlled arc
  • Lower that arm back down fully before curling the opposite arm
  • Keep the upper arms pressed against the pad throughout — avoid using momentum or swinging
  • Alternate arms for the desired number of reps per side
