MediumGlutes

About this exercise

A unilateral glute bridge variation performed with one ankle crossed over the opposite knee in a figure-4 position. Crossing the leg increases the demand on the working glute and also provides a passive stretch to the piriformis and hip external rotators of the crossed leg.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back with knees bent and feet flat on the floor
  • Cross one ankle over the opposite knee, forming a figure-4 shape with your legs
  • Press the crossed knee gently outward to keep the hip externally rotated
  • Drive through the heel of the grounded foot and squeeze your glutes to raise your hips off the floor
  • At the top, your body should form a straight line from shoulder to knee
  • Pause briefly at the top, then lower your hips back to the floor under control
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching
