About this exercise

A shoulder isolation exercise using a towel as resistance, performed by stepping on the towel and raising it out to the side. This home-friendly variation targets the lateral deltoid without any equipment other than a standard towel.

How to Perform

  • Stand with one foot on the center of a folded towel, holding one end in each hand at your sides
  • Keep a slight bend in your elbows and brace your core
  • Raise the towel out to your sides against the resistance of your foot until your arms reach shoulder height
  • Pause briefly at the top position
  • Lower your arms slowly back to the starting position under control
  • Keep tension on the towel throughout the movement to maintain resistance
