About this exercise

The Lateral Elbow Plank Walk is a dynamic core exercise performed in the forearm plank position where you walk sideways by moving your elbows and feet in the same direction simultaneously. The lateral movement challenges anti-rotation stability and works the obliques heavily while keeping the rest of the core engaged throughout.

How to Perform

  • Start in a forearm plank with elbows under shoulders, body forming a straight line from head to heels
  • Step your right elbow and right foot out to the right at the same time
  • Follow with your left elbow and left foot, returning to the plank width
  • Continue for the desired number of steps to the right, then reverse the direction
  • Keep your hips level and square — do not let them rise, sag, or rotate
  • Maintain a tight core and breathe steadily throughout the movement
