About this exercise

A combined mobility drill that first opens the lats and rear shoulder with a cross-body stretch, then flows into a shoulder shrug to mobilise the upper traps and scapulae. It helps relieve tension across the upper back and shoulders.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright and bring one arm across your chest at shoulder height
  • With the opposite hand, gently pull the arm closer to your chest and hold the lat and rear shoulder stretch
  • Slowly release the stretch and relax both arms at your sides
  • Raise both shoulders up toward your ears in a controlled shrug
  • Hold briefly at the top, then lower your shoulders down with control
  • Repeat the sequence for the desired duration
