About this exercise

A unilateral hip hinge exercise using a landmine attachment that targets the hamstrings and glutes while building single-leg balance and stability. The angled barbell path provides a natural loading curve that reduces lower back strain compared to a traditional straight-bar Romanian deadlift.

How to Perform

  • Fix one end of a barbell in a landmine attachment and load the free end appropriately
  • Stand facing the landmine on one leg and hold the free end of the bar with the opposite hand
  • Keep a slight bend in the standing knee and maintain a neutral spine throughout
  • Hinge forward at the hips, lowering the bar toward the floor while extending the free leg behind you for balance
  • Feel a stretch through the hamstring of the standing leg at the bottom
  • Drive through the standing heel and extend the hips to return to the upright position
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching legs
