About this exercise

The L-sit pull-up is an advanced compound movement that combines a pronated-grip pull-up with a sustained L-sit hold, requiring you to keep your legs extended and parallel to the floor for every rep. It develops back width, bicep strength, and core stability in a single demanding movement.

How to Perform

  • Hang from a pull-up bar with a pronated (overhand) grip slightly wider than shoulder-width
  • Raise your legs until they are straight and parallel to the floor, forming an L-shape
  • Hold this L-sit position throughout the entire set
  • Pull your chest toward the bar by driving your elbows down and toward your hips
  • Continue until your chin is above the bar
  • Lower yourself with control to a full hang while keeping your legs lifted
  • Keep your core braced to prevent your legs from dropping
