Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the L-Sit Kick Out.

HardAbsCore

About this exercise

An advanced calisthenics skill where you hold an L-sit position — body supported on the hands with legs extended horizontally — and then kick the legs outward and back in a controlled motion to further challenge core strength and hip flexor endurance. The movement demands significant triceps, shoulder, and abdominal strength to maintain body elevation while kicking.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the floor with legs extended, place your hands flat on the floor beside your hips
  • Press down through your hands and lock out your elbows to lift your hips and legs off the ground
  • Hold the L-sit position with legs parallel to the floor and feet together
  • From the L-sit, spread your legs out wide to the sides in a controlled kick
  • Bring your legs back together to the L-sit position
  • Maintain elevation throughout — avoid letting your hips or feet touch the ground between reps
  • Lower with control after completing the target number of repetitions
