L-Sit Chin-Up

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the L-Sit Chin-Up.

HardBicepsMiddle back

About this exercise

The L-sit chin-up combines a supinated-grip chin-up with an L-sit hold, requiring you to keep your legs extended and parallel to the floor throughout every rep. This advanced skill demands exceptional core strength, hip flexor endurance, and upper body pulling power simultaneously.

How to Perform

  • Hang from a pull-up bar with a supinated (underhand) grip slightly narrower than shoulder-width
  • Lift your legs until they are straight and parallel to the floor, forming an L-shape with your body
  • Hold the L-sit position throughout the entire set
  • Pull your chest up toward the bar by driving your elbows down and back
  • Continue pulling until your chin clears the bar
  • Lower yourself with control back to a straight-arm hang while keeping the L-sit
  • Avoid letting your legs drop during the descent
