About this exercise

A wall-assisted squat drill performed with a wide stance and knees and toes angled outward. The wall provides balance support so you can focus on sliding into a deep squat, improving hip mobility and activating the outer quadriceps and glutes.

How to Perform

  • Stand with your back against a wall, feet wider than shoulder-width apart and toes pointing out at roughly 45 degrees
  • Place your heels a comfortable distance from the wall so your knees can track over your toes
  • Press your back lightly against the wall and brace your core
  • Slide down the wall by bending your knees outward, pushing them in line with your toes
  • Descend until your thighs are parallel to the floor or as low as your mobility allows
  • Pause briefly at the bottom, then slide back up to the starting position
  • Keep your chest up and your weight evenly distributed through your feet throughout
