About this exercise

The kneeling stay-forward wheel rollout is an advanced core exercise performed with an ab wheel. Unlike the standard rollout, you roll out and pause in the extended position, maintaining a hollow-body brace to maximally challenge the abs and anterior core throughout the hold.

How to Perform

  • Kneel on a mat and grip the ab wheel with both hands directly below your shoulders
  • Brace your core hard and tuck your pelvis slightly to protect your lower back
  • Roll the wheel forward slowly, extending your body toward the floor as far as you can while keeping your hips low and your back flat
  • Pause and hold the extended position for a count, keeping tension in your abs the entire time
  • Pull the wheel back toward your knees by contracting your core, returning to the start position
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
