About this exercise

The kneeling modified Hindu push-up is a beginner-friendly variation of the Hindu push-up performed from the knees, reducing the load while preserving the flowing, arc-like movement pattern. It targets the chest, shoulders, and triceps while also engaging the core and improving spinal mobility.

How to Perform

  • Start on all fours and then push your hips up and back into a modified downward-dog position with knees on the floor
  • Keep your arms straight and create an inverted V-shape with your body
  • Lower your chest toward the floor by bending your elbows and diving your nose forward and down
  • Smoothly transition into an upward-dog-like position, pushing your chest through and arching your back
  • Press up until your arms are fully extended and your hips are low
  • Reverse the arc by pushing back up into the inverted V-shape
  • Repeat the flowing movement for the desired number of reps
