About this exercise

A modified push-up performed on the knuckles with knees on the floor, reducing wrist strain while targeting the chest, triceps, and front shoulders — a great option for those with wrist discomfort or beginners building upper-body strength.

How to Perform

  • Start in a kneeling plank position with hands formed into fists, knuckles pressed into the floor directly under your shoulders
  • Align your body in a straight line from knees to head with your core engaged
  • Lower your chest toward the floor by bending your elbows at roughly a 45-degree angle to your body
  • Stop just before your chest reaches the floor and pause briefly
  • Push back up to the starting position by fully extending your arms
  • Avoid letting your hips sag or your lower back arch throughout the movement
