EasyQuadriceps

About this exercise

The kneeling hip flexor stretch in the frontal plane targets the hip flexors and inner thigh by adding a lateral lean while in a half-kneeling lunge position. This variation opens the hip in the frontal plane, complementing the standard forward-shift stretch with a side-bending component for greater adductor and hip flexibility.

How to Perform

  • Kneel on one knee on a mat with your other foot planted forward in a lunge position
  • Tuck your pelvis under and shift your hips forward until you feel tension in the front of the back hip
  • Keep your torso upright and lean your upper body laterally toward the front leg
  • Extend the arm on the kneeling side overhead to deepen the lateral stretch
  • Hold the position and breathe steadily for the prescribed duration
  • Release and repeat on the opposite side
