About this exercise

A quadruped hip mobility drill in which one knee traces slow circles in the backward direction to open the posterior hip capsule and activate the glutes. It is an effective warm-up and corrective movement for improving hip range of motion.

How to Perform

  • Start on all fours with wrists directly below shoulders and knees below hips
  • Brace your core to keep the spine neutral throughout the movement
  • Lift one knee off the floor, maintaining a 90-degree bend
  • Draw the knee backward and upward in a large, slow circular arc
  • Continue the circle outward to the side, then downward and back to the start position
  • Complete all reps in the backward direction on one side before switching legs
