The Kneeling Abdominal Draw In is a core stability exercise that trains the deep abdominal muscles, particularly the transverse abdominis, by pulling the navel toward the spine while on all fours. It is a foundational movement used in rehabilitation and core activation programs.

How to Perform

  • Start on all fours with your hands directly under your shoulders and knees under your hips
  • Keep your spine in a neutral position, neither arched nor rounded
  • Take a deep breath in to prepare
  • On the exhale, draw your navel up and in toward your spine without moving your back or pelvis
  • Hold the drawn-in position for 5–10 seconds while breathing normally
  • Slowly release the contraction and return to a neutral brace before repeating
