About this exercise

A compound movement that combines a sumo-stance deadlift with an explosive upward pull of the kettlebell to chin height. The wide stance shifts emphasis onto the inner thighs and glutes, while the high pull recruits the upper traps and shoulders. This combination develops total-body power, coordination, and cardiovascular conditioning simultaneously.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet wider than shoulder-width, toes pointing outward, the kettlebell between your feet
  • Hinge at the hips and bend your knees to grip the kettlebell with both hands, arms straight
  • Keep your chest up, spine neutral, and knees pushed out over your toes
  • Drive explosively through your heels, extending your hips and knees to stand
  • Use the upward momentum to pull the kettlebell toward your chin, leading with your elbows high and wide
  • Allow the kettlebell to rise to chest or chin height before controlling it back down
  • Hinge at the hips and bend your knees to lower the kettlebell back to the floor for the next repetition
