About this exercise

A unilateral lower-body strength exercise where you hold a kettlebell and step up onto an elevated platform. It targets the quadriceps and glutes of the working leg while challenging single-leg balance and stability.

How to Perform

  • Stand facing a sturdy box or step holding a kettlebell in each hand at your sides, or a single kettlebell in the goblet position
  • Place your right foot firmly on top of the step
  • Press through your right heel to drive your body up until your right leg is fully extended
  • Bring your left foot up to stand fully on the step
  • Step your left foot back down to the floor, followed by your right foot
  • Complete all reps on one leg before switching, or alternate legs each rep
  • Keep your chest tall and your core braced throughout
