About this exercise

A rear deltoid isolation exercise performed bent over where you raise kettlebells out to the sides. The kettlebell's offset center of gravity adds a subtle rotational challenge compared to dumbbells, further engaging the rear delts and scapular stabilizers.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and hinge forward at the hips until your torso is nearly parallel to the floor
  • Hold a kettlebell in each hand with a neutral grip, arms hanging straight toward the floor
  • Raise both arms out to the sides in a wide arc until they are parallel to the floor
  • Squeeze your rear deltoids at the top and hold briefly
  • Slowly lower the kettlebells back to the starting position under control
  • Keep a soft bend in your elbows and maintain a neutral spine throughout
