About this exercise

The Kettlebell Sit Up Press is a compound movement that links abdominal strength with overhead pressing power by performing a sit-up while pressing a kettlebell overhead at the top of the movement. The seamless combination trains the core and shoulders together in a dynamic, full-range pattern.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back with knees bent and feet flat on the floor
  • Hold a kettlebell with both hands at chest level
  • Brace your core and begin curling your torso upward in a sit-up motion
  • As you reach the top of the sit-up, press the kettlebell overhead until arms are fully extended
  • Pause briefly at the top with the kettlebell overhead
  • Lower the kettlebell back to chest level as you begin to descend
  • Lower your torso back to the floor under control
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
