About this exercise

A unilateral lower body exercise where the rear foot is elevated on a low box and kettlebells are held at the sides. The movement challenges the quadriceps and glutes of the front leg while demanding significant balance and core stability.

How to Perform

  • Place a low box or step behind you and hold a kettlebell in each hand at your sides
  • Step your front foot forward far enough so that your shin remains vertical during the descent
  • Place the top of your rear foot on the low box
  • Lower your rear knee toward the floor under control while keeping your torso tall
  • Descend until your front thigh is roughly parallel to the floor
  • Press through the heel of your front foot to drive back to the starting position
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching legs
