Kettlebell Seated Two-Arm Military Press

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Kettlebell Seated Two-Arm Military Press.

About this exercise

The kettlebell seated two-arm military press presses two kettlebells simultaneously from the rack position overhead while seated, eliminating lower-body momentum and demanding strict shoulder strength. The offset center of mass of a kettlebell challenges wrist and shoulder stability compared to a dumbbell. It builds pressing strength, shoulder mass, and core stability under load.

How to Perform

  • Sit upright on a bench set to 90 degrees with your feet flat on the floor
  • Clean two kettlebells to the rack position — handles at shoulder height, bells resting on the outer forearms
  • Brace your core and keep a neutral spine throughout
  • Press both kettlebells straight overhead until your arms are fully extended
  • At the top, keep your wrists stacked over your elbows and do not let the bells drift behind your head
  • Lower the kettlebells back to the rack position in a controlled manner
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
