About this exercise

The kettlebell seated shoulder press is a bilateral overhead pressing movement performed while seated, using two kettlebells held at shoulder height. The seated position eliminates leg drive, forcing the shoulders and triceps to do all the work and improving strict pressing strength.

How to Perform

  • Sit upright on a bench with your feet flat on the floor and your core braced
  • Clean two kettlebells to rack position, with handles at shoulder height and bells resting on the backs of your forearms
  • Press both kettlebells straight overhead until your arms are fully extended
  • Keep your elbows tracking slightly forward throughout the press
  • Lower the kettlebells under control back to the starting rack position
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
