About this exercise

A highly technical and demanding squat variation in which one arm holds a kettlebell locked out overhead throughout the movement. It develops lower-body strength, shoulder stability, and total-body coordination simultaneously, requiring significant mobility in the hips, thoracic spine, and shoulder.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and press a kettlebell overhead with one arm, elbow fully extended
  • Keep your eyes on the kettlebell and brace your core
  • Push your hips back and descend into a full squat, maintaining the kettlebell directly over your shoulder
  • Keep your chest up, knees tracking over your toes, and the working arm locked out
  • Drive through your heels to return to standing, keeping the kettlebell stable overhead
