About this exercise

A functional lower-body exercise in which you rise from a double-kneeling position to standing while holding a kettlebell in the clean (front-rack) position at shoulder height. The front-rack grip adds a shoulder stability and core anti-flexion challenge compared to the standard hold variation.

How to Perform

  • Kneel on both knees on a padded surface and hold a kettlebell in the clean position at one shoulder with your elbow high
  • Brace your core and maintain the front-rack position throughout
  • Step one foot forward into a half-kneeling position, placing your foot flat on the floor
  • Drive through your front foot and rear knee to rise to a full standing position
  • Stand tall while keeping the kettlebell stable at shoulder height in the clean position
  • Reverse the movement by stepping one leg back into half-kneeling, then lower the trailing knee to the ground
  • Alternate the leading leg with each repetition
