About this exercise

The kettlebell incline twist press is a chest press variation performed on an incline bench where the wrists rotate from a neutral (hammer) grip at the bottom to a pronated grip at the top of the press. This rotation increases upper chest activation and improves shoulder joint health through a more natural pressing arc.

How to Perform

  • Set an adjustable bench to a 30–45 degree incline and sit back holding a kettlebell in each hand at shoulder height with a neutral grip
  • Plant your feet flat on the floor and press your back firmly into the pad
  • Press the kettlebells upward while simultaneously rotating your wrists inward so your palms face away from you at the top
  • Squeeze your upper chest at the top of the movement with arms nearly fully extended
  • Slowly lower the kettlebells back to the starting position, rotating your wrists back to neutral as you descend
  • Maintain a controlled tempo throughout and avoid flaring your elbows excessively
