About this exercise

A lat and upper chest exercise performed on an incline bench where you hold a kettlebell by the bell with both hands and arc it behind your head. The inclined position deepens the stretch and increases lat engagement compared to the flat variation.

How to Perform

  • Set a bench to a 30–45 degree incline and lie back with your upper back supported on the pad
  • Hold the kettlebell by the bell (not the handle) with both hands, arms extended overhead
  • Lower the kettlebell in an arc behind your head until you feel a stretch through your lats and upper chest
  • Pull the kettlebell back over your chest through the same arc, squeezing your lats at the top
  • Keep a slight bend in your elbows throughout to reduce elbow joint stress
  • Control the descent and avoid over-arching your lower back
