About this exercise

The Kettlebell Incline Fly is an isolation exercise that targets the upper chest by stretching and contracting the pectoral muscles through a wide arc of motion on an incline bench. The slight bend in the elbows protects the joints while allowing maximum chest stretch at the bottom of the movement.

How to Perform

  • Set an adjustable bench to a 30–45 degree incline and sit back, holding a kettlebell in each hand
  • Press the kettlebells up above your chest with a slight bend in the elbows and palms facing each other
  • Slowly lower the kettlebells out to your sides in a wide arc, feeling a deep stretch across the upper chest
  • Stop when your elbows reach shoulder height or you feel a full stretch in the chest
  • Squeeze your pectoral muscles and bring the kettlebells back together above your chest in the same arc
  • Maintain the slight elbow bend throughout and avoid straightening or collapsing the arms
