About this exercise

The kettlebell half Turkish get up is a unilateral full-body movement that trains core stability, shoulder strength, and hip mobility. Starting on the floor with one arm extended overhead, you rise to a seated position and then a kneeling lunge, keeping the kettlebell locked out above you at all times.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back with a kettlebell in one hand, arm fully extended toward the ceiling, and the same-side knee bent with foot flat on the floor
  • Press the kettlebell firmly overhead and fix your gaze on it throughout the movement
  • Roll onto your opposite forearm, then press up onto your opposite hand, keeping the kettlebell arm vertical
  • Drive through your planted foot to lift your hips off the floor into a bridge position
  • Sweep your free leg under your body and plant that knee on the floor behind you, coming into a tall kneeling position
  • Pause at the top with the kettlebell still locked out overhead
  • Reverse the movement step by step back to the starting position
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching
