About this exercise

The kettlebell half kneeling shoulder press is a unilateral overhead pressing exercise performed with one knee on the ground. The half-kneeling position challenges core stability and hip alignment while allowing you to focus on pressing strength through a single shoulder.

How to Perform

  • Kneel on one knee with the opposite foot planted flat in front of you, forming a 90-degree angle at both knees
  • Hold a kettlebell at shoulder height on the same side as the kneeling knee, with your palm facing inward or forward
  • Brace your core and keep your torso upright and neutral
  • Press the kettlebell straight overhead until your arm is fully extended
  • Pause briefly at the top, then lower the kettlebell back to the starting position under control
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching
