About this exercise

The Kettlebell Half Kneeling One-Arm Bottoms-Up Press is an advanced shoulder stability drill performed from a half-kneeling position while holding a kettlebell upside down (bell above handle). The inverted grip demands continuous wrist, forearm, and rotator-cuff activation to keep the bell from falling, making it an excellent tool for building shoulder health and pressing strength.

How to Perform

  • Kneel with one knee on the floor and the opposite foot forward in a 90-90 position
  • Grip the kettlebell handle firmly with the working-side hand and flip the bell upside down so it sits above your fist
  • Bring your forearm to vertical with the bell balanced above the handle at shoulder height
  • Brace your core, squeeze your glutes, and keep a tall spine throughout
  • Press the kettlebell straight overhead until your arm is fully extended, maintaining the inverted balance
  • Lower the bell slowly and with control back to the starting position
  • Complete all reps on one arm before switching sides
