About this exercise

The kettlebell goblet squat is a beginner-friendly squat variation where you hold a single kettlebell by its horns at chest height, like a goblet. The front-loaded position acts as a counterbalance that encourages an upright torso and deep squat depth, making it ideal for building lower-body strength and reinforcing proper squat mechanics.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet slightly wider than shoulder-width and hold the kettlebell by the horns at chest height
  • Keep your chest tall, elbows pointing down and inward
  • Push your knees out and begin lowering into a squat
  • Descend until your thighs are parallel or below parallel to the floor
  • Drive through your heels and squeeze your glutes to return to standing
