About this exercise

A quad-intensive squat variation where you hold the bottom position and perform small pulsing movements, dramatically increasing time under tension without the need to fully stand between reps. Holding the kettlebell in the goblet position keeps the torso upright and reinforces proper squat mechanics.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a kettlebell by the horns at chest height
  • Squat down until your thighs are at or below parallel, keeping your chest up and knees tracking over your toes
  • At the bottom, perform small pulsing movements — lowering a few extra inches then rising slightly — without standing up fully
  • Keep your core braced and heels pressed into the floor throughout the pulses
  • After completing all pulses, drive through your heels to return to the standing position
